(Almost) Back to Square One

Starting Module 2 is exciting; however I can’t shake the feeling of being slightly overwhelmed. This feeling is remarkably similar to the one I had at the beginning of Module 1, albeit with less anxiety over how to use MyUniHub.

Module 1 feels like a lifetime away, and whilst I am ecstatic that Module 2 is very different, it does leave me with a feeling that I am starting all over again, just from a different place.

I attended the Welcome Back Zoom on Friday 5th February, which provided some interesting insight. I have a potential idea for an area of my practice that I would like to research, however I am trying not to become too attached in case it turns out to be irrelevant or fruitless.

Despite all of this, I am hungry to learn more and challenge myself throughout this module, and to do work that is more research based as opposed to reflexive, whilst staying true to my practice and building on the foundation I built in Module 1.

Onwards and upwards, I guess.

  1. Hi Alys, I am also feeling overwhelmed about this module. It will be challenging to start something completely different but also not forget what we discovered last term. I look forward to reading your blogs this term x

    1. Hi Alice,
Thanks so much for your comment. Yes I completely agree that maybe going back and revisiting some of the work we did in Module 1 could be a great way to feel more prepared for this module!

  2. Hi Alys, I know exactly what you mean about feeling like we're starting over, Module 2 will definitely be a challenge but I think we learned a lot in Module 1 (about ourselves and the course) and we can use that to reassure us as we go through. Looking forward to seeing your research develop! x

  3. Hi Alys, I can see how you can feel overwhelmed in this module considering everything that is required by the end and all the new words and everything. I'm still puzzled by a literature review being different from a book review! But from everything I've seen and heard on this module so far, and from looking at people who've done this module before us, it seems like it's a slow burner. I'm hoping everything gradually becomes clearer and falls into place. x

    1. Hi Shelley,
Yes I think you're right. Also looking at older blogs from people who have done this module before is a great idea! x

  4. Hi Alys,
Yeah I read the Handbook too and thought oh god! I am starting from the beginning!!! But I keep reminding myself that it's not starting over, it's just building upon what we discovered in Module 1 - even though I know that is completely easier said than done! I feel like there could be so much to research, I don't know how there will be time for it all!? + the overall bigger workload. I better get my skates on as I still don't know where my focus will be - so I'm getting a bit panicked! I wish you lots of energy and productivity for module 2 and let's hope the puzzle pieces will all start to fall into placer us all! Lauren xx

  5. Hi Alys, It is very overwhelming, possibly because it is so different from module one. I just have to keep reminding myself that I felt the same in module one and managed to get through it, so we can do the same for this module (hopefully!)
